A troupe walks from house to house all across Japan, performing lion dances and cleansing bad luck. This is Ise-daikagura, a tradition with over 400 years of history. The troupe performs rituals said to bring good fortune, as well as acrobatic acts known as hokagei that delight and entertain local residents. Daikagura performers travel almost the entire year, bringing happiness to those eagerly awaiting their visits. Generations of performers have been inspired by the hope of bringing people joy. Their art is a form of prayer, and is honed over their daily travels. Join them on the road, and explore the true meaning of Ise-daikagura in a unique fusion of faith and performance. 伊勢大神楽 – 幸せを届けて – 日本各地の家々を歩いて周り、獅子舞を披露して、厄祓いをする一行。400年以上の歴史を持つ「伊勢大神楽」だ。福を招くための縁起の良い神事であるとともに、人々におめでたさ、楽しさを与える放下芸と呼ばれる曲芸も演じられる。訪問のときを待ちわびる人々のため、ほぼ1年をかけて各地を巡る大神楽師たち。そこには、人々の幸せを代々願い続けてきた深い思いがある。日々の旅の中で磨かれていく「祈りの芸」。彼らの道中に密着し、信仰と芸能が融合した独特な文化、伊勢大神楽の真髄を探る。
